Rosalyn Carter, wife of former President Jimmy Carter, speaking about care at home once said:

The national charity for carers, Carers UK, estimates that there are over 6.5 million people giving care at home in the UK. Families are the major source of caregiving.

Most often it is women who take on the caring role, many of whom will also have childcare responsibilities. More than 200,000 children across the UK are carers. 13,000 of the UK’s young carers provide care at home for over 50 hours a week.

This has dramatic consequences for their education, employment opportunities and future lives.
